  1. Wow, where to begin. IT WILL VARY..is my best answer.. It all depends on the quality of wood used. Also, I used liquid nails and Nail/staple gun where some people prefer screws. you need a seal for the Air Conditioner, and you may need new fixtures for the roof like vents and exhaust caps, for example I had to buy a new antenna.
The first thing I would do is locate the best price/source for the rubber roof.. Call this place for EPDM roof.. http://stores.ebay.com/tomsrvsurplus?_trksid=p2047675.l2563  They were nice and informative and cheap. They also sell the adhesive and Butyl tape and Self leveling sealant. I kept all my receipts but I realized alot of the stuff I used I already had(like all the roof staples) .. In my case I also ran into more expense than maybe someone else would have. For example, I bought all new stainless hardware for the tracks and end trim. Plus,I had to buy filler paste due to the low quality of wood sheeting I used for the roof substrate. .Plus I had to buy new supporting frame wood for the roof perimeter.
I think we were close to $650 +/- $50 on the Complete roof repair. The main thing I came out of this realizing was 1) You better get the camper cheap enough to make the roof repair worth it. 2) no matter how much you think it will cost you will run into extras  3) Where the water goes IT GROWS, meaning whatever you think the damage is by the initial inspection can be multiplied by at least another third or even half more….  AND FINALLY, It is extremely satisfying to complete a big project the right way knowing you will not have any leaks in the foreseeable future, Especially when you are caught out camping in an extreme downpour. I hope this helps.. just remember what I mentioned on the video, and that is ,I would have never bought the camper if it needed wall structure repair or floor repair in addition to the roof. Make sure the damage is only contained to the roof. Get inside of the cabinets especially in the corners and feel for softness in the flooring and walls..  Good Luck.

  2. Is it just me or am I missing something here? It looks like you sistered the rotting trusses with and reattached the new wood to the wall. This gave you a solid structure to anchor add new roof decking and attach a new roof to, I can see this would solidify the trailer. However, it appears that you left the old rotted moldy wood in place. You also acknowledged to another poster that you see this as putting the final day of reckoning for the trailer out to about 8 – 10 years. While I can provide no guesstimate as to how long the repair will last, to me the biggest danger is living with all of that existing black mold and the related health hazards that come with it.

  3. You have to Love those Flat Roof Trailers  I don't think anybody makes a Flat roof anymore  they are all Barreled or arched   I know I had a 2003 Rockwood  with a flat roof  not a very good Design the water pools on the roof after a while and then the Damage starts

  4. Wow! Thanks for posting this. I just bought a 1995 Terry a bit larger than yours. There is water damage in the bathroom in a small section. I'm praying that when we crack that can of worms open we don't find that we have to replace the roof. If we do however, this video will be very helpful. Just out of curiosity, how long did this repair take you?

  5. I jst found a few leaks in my vintage camper. around the Windows and the door.. I kills/ waterproof wood stained all of the wood , I'm hoping I do not have to reseal the window it looks like I'm going to have to do the roof tho. what would you suggest to fix the seal in the roof?

  6. Thank you for your video! I am having major leaks in my 5th wheel. This has given me the confidence to replace my entire roof and everything in the trailer. Where did you order the rubber from?

  7. we just spent 5000 for a travel trailer to find out there was water damge on the floor underneath a chair. we had a rv repair come out and check it out and told us to just junk it. it's a very small amount we already took everything out to see how far it went. it's about a foot in diameter. my fiance is good with building and wood. any advice
    thank you

  8. nice job. That is encouraging. Right about in the middle it looked like a disaster I'm glad that you guys finished it just drive it to the junkyard. It was looking bad. Well I have one that looks as bad and probably worse but it's a different style of roof so I'm not sure exactly how I'm going to fix it. mine is a 1952 Hicks trailer.

  9. Great video. Lots of great info. My husband and I just bought a trailer that we are didn't know needs a roof. I think we can do it with your video tutorial though. . Can you give a product list of what all you used on this?

  10. Good for you, got r done and ready for camping. I took the air conditioner off our trailer yesterday and had black gooy bubble gum tar all over me and tools, so I can appreciate what you did.

  11. I'm curious if I could replace my aluminum roof w/ rubber …it's a 1986 toyota dolphin…haven't seen anything out there on the internet about this..thought I;d ask your opinion…thank you!!!! And Superthanks for this vid..

  12. That roof looks pretty darn good 😀 I am really liking the self leveling sealant. Great video I liked how you made it seem so easy and care free LOL. Maybe one day I will repair my roof when the time comes 😀

  13. I did a roof in very similar condition. Mine originally had 1/8th roof sheath, I went to 3/8. I will say it took me 3 days to do the job by myself. I have built small buildings in less time, seriously. Materials cost me about $500 for everything. My suggestion, if you have a vent fan over anything other than shower, remove that vent. In winter water condensates and will leak inside.I had one over bed, every winter my bed would get soaked. Knowing what I know now, you never get rid of the smell of the water damage inside the walls. You can spray with bleach, you can use a stain and mold blocking primer, it will still be there. I eventually sold mine to a smoker that couldn't smell. I learned my lesson, reseal that roof every 3 years, and don't buy a trailer over 3 years, because you may have same issues, on smaller scale.

  14. Hello. I must be missing something….where is the application procedure of putting that huge piece of roofing on? That's what I'm wondering about….how did you do that? Thanks!

  15. Great video. I bought a trailer extra cheap that had a roof leak in one corner. This vid was a walk- through and training for the work I had to do. Was very nice to watch someone do it first! Thank you, it was extremely helpful
