Very helpful video amigo 👍👍
You forgot to lay paper before the shingles.
Dude you shouldn't be giving any type of construction advice or instruction to anyone. So many mistakes…
Thanks. Super helpful. Exactly what I need to do with my roof
Nice use of those ground tags 😉
Thanks for the vid man. I have a big repair from a storm that just blew through and frankly don't have the cash to fix. This will help me DIY.
OSB?
Hey Thanks a lot going to try and fix my Moms roof…………..scared to death!
I've got an honest question. Why can't brand new shingles be nailed in directly over the top of existing old shingles? In your case, you had rotted wood that you had to replace as well as replacing shingles. Can't a person just nail a new layer of shingles right over the old? I have zero roofing experience, so I was just curious. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Hey you did a good job. Osb is just fine. you get these guys calling down your work becuase you didn't roof their way are usually amateurs themselves. They've never really ripped more than 100 roofs and noticed the important patterns. I personally wouldn't have put down paper myself also if i did this job.
Great video showing how to properly repair a leaky roof! I sub'd!
This comment is for the guy in the video , I've been roofing for 22 years , and been a licensed contractor for 15 years , anyway
about the bad comments , those bad comments usually come from people that don't understand the minimum specifications of the trade , when I was sitting in a classroom to pass the state test , I learn about the minimum requirement by the roofing industry , NOT by some idiots trying to re invent the wheel .
the only thing I would point is , you didn't use felt under the shingles, BUT…that's not a problem , I come across roof that don't have any felt AT ALL over the entire roof and they never have a water leak.
So …if you place the nails where they supposed to be , you don't have to worry .
About the plywood sheathing …it doesn't make any sense to upgrade to CDX , when the entire house is built with OSB.
I'm a professional roofers and I come across many CLOWNS that will never be up to my level of knowledge and they still think they can teach the roofer how to roof .
It's funny but true.
You did wonderful and keep uploading your videos and hope you master the trade some day .
I like your video !
Greetings .
Eric Garcia.
What does a job like this cost?
No Tar paper or caulking?
nice work… but I would have added paper layment before shingles
Good video
good job
Didn't you have to remove any nails or staples first before using the saw???
please don't do wut this guy just did the amount of things that were done wrong in this video alone makes me want to throw up
good video! I need to do exactly same repair. was the Osb half inch..
"Drinking that day they made this house." LOL. I've seen that happen more than once. Thanks!

you didn't even put felt on the wood
you forgot to put tar paper down under
you forgot to put tar paper down under
Thanks for this video, very didactic. But, why you did´nt put felt below the shingles??
You forgot felt paper
Thanxeversomuch, really helpful
Close enough to that edge there buddy?
Informative ,, Thanks .
Just wondered though ,, why you didn't put a piece of
tar paper over the wood before putting the shingles on ?
How did you fix the inside damage?
Love it
why didn't you lay some paper down again? Is there a need to tar around the roofing nails?
I like your style, Very informative. Thank you
Great video, thanks!
OSB is NOT better for sheathing roofs. OSB nail holding ability is very poor.
if you get a leak, OSB rots out extremely fast, as well as swelling up up to 2x it's original thickness.
OSB is the worst product for your roof. I've been doing re-roofing for 15 years and I can tell you what is a better product for your roof.
GOOD JOB
Where is your tar paper?? You just lay shingles ontop the wood?
boy thats some cheap sub decking yikes
How much would a leak that size cost to repair
Fucking great video. Now I have to try to do my roof!#damnit
What caused the leak in the first place ?
You sir, are a helpful chap! You haven given me the confidence to try this myself. Keep up the good work and instruction!
Badass Thanks man
Awesome! Can't wait to see the metal roof video!
should have used felt paper, also black singles are pretty common it seems you could have matched it a little better than that color wise but good job
good job!
