This seems to have worked OK, but EternaBond is supposed to be rolled with a special roller after it is pressed down. I wouldn't skip that step, personally. Also, I don't see the need for the Liquid Nails. Just cover the damaged area with EternaBond.
Hi how wide was your eterabond tape Thanks
Nice work.
so liquid nails can be use with no problems ??
thank you . good work
Dustin, I know I am new to the RV world. I too have a similar issue. Have watched your video about half dozen times. Not to sound stupid but it doesn't show or say in the video what / when the lap sealant is used. Do you cover the web tape with the sealant or just around the edges to seal the tape. Is the web tape a fabric sealant? As I live in a very small town, I will to look around for some of the items you used. With no RV repair close by (80 miles away), the local hardware store just looked at me like I was crazy. Any help would be really appreciated. This old veteran lives out of his RV and mine is permanently set up… thank you kindly for your time.
Very nice job. Thanks for sharing.
i care. im glad your roof lasted for 4 plus years. you fixed it right. im glad that there wasnt more damage to the camper.
Nice job on that Dustin. Good prep work (always the key for stuff like this). I'm getting ready to seal my Class A coach roof with Eternabond, glad to see yours is holding up well. I have a fiberglass roof, thank god, so I'm just sealing around vents etc. Thanks for the video, it helps those of us getting ready to do a similar job of their own.
I used grout caulking on my trailer metal roof over cracking dried putty tape and sealed it and I am very pleased. Sealed solid even a year later with no cracking. Thanks for posting this video. You did a fantastic job! I would do this also if mine had that bad of a problem.
If anyone cares four years later no issues with eternal bond I live in Southern California so it doesn't rain much but when we do get rain I check the trailer and there's no water damage. Shit works
Just did my 2003 Rockwood . prior owner had mounted solar panels on roof using composite 2x4s (plastic) bonded to roofing material and screwed in on the ends. they caused water pooling and small leaks do to improper draining . used 6'' wide white backed Eternabond to go over where 2x4s were laid and glued . looking at it in hindsight should have used Web seal eternabond because I want to use rubber sealer on the roof and it will bond to it. now I have to scuff the tape and put a layer of contact cement on before hand. I also have a flat roof like yours . the description of video says rubber roof its not . your roof like mine is TPO thermal Polyolfin that's why it cracked like that TPO also has a felt like backing Rubber does not it has a black backing also used a wallpaper seam roller and counter top laminate roller cheaper than $27 dollar Eternabond roller used mineral spirits and lac thinner before hand no Eterna Prime Worked Great stuck like glue no pun intended
I also recommend this video….EternaBond How to remove and replace
I did that with my 95 Southwind using 12" wide Eternabond. It overlapped the seal strip which may interfere with the gutter function BUT the gutters are not very functional anyway so that was not a major concern. Eternabond tape adhesive is pressure activated (the primer helps adhesion: and this video does NOT show using a roller to press it down which activates the adhesive. In addition, if you use webseal as shown, you will have to paint the tape either with Eternabond UV protectant OR acrylic-latex outdoor paint. Either one will satisfy the UV protection need per Eternabond. Also, if you either do not adequately clean the taping area or do not prime it, you may get less than adequate bonding and water can get underneath.
I know this was done years ago, but is as timely today as it was then. I am facing the very same job, except on a '94 southwind class A. my dilemma, I my frame edge is held on with rivets. i'm not sure i'm going to be able to remove and replace them adeptly. do you think I should just eternabond over the frame edge or venture to remove and replace? cosmetics not so important to me as is the fix being effective and long lasting. thanks.
Good video – thanks for taking the time to document the process and share it with us!
Dude, where do you buy these products
I think silicone sealant should be banned from existence.
I found a trailer repair shop in my area and they sold me all the supplies you see in the video.
Ya paint or do what I did and caulk over the whole thing. Still No leaks!
Can you paint over the tape?
This stuff is great!! saved me many times on T`s and when i had a van with a dark roof it cooled it down quite a bit by changing the roof color to white,, probably the cheapest thing i have ever done to an RV roof and most effective too.
Some people just want something to bitch about………nothing wrong wit the video….most of the people working with roof repair on a RV are familiar with what it looks like…..and what the damage looks like……obviously you are not familiar with working on RV roof.
Whoever filmed this wasn't watching what they were doing…..most of the video just shows the top of the camper….not actually what the repair was like! Sorry…but I have never done this before and it left a lot to be taught! Plan ahead and walk thru all the steps before you do it for real…next time. Thanks.
Wish I had a man like you around! lol
Good information. Thanks for making this.
This may help me in the future.
Thanks.
Glad it helped, I coverd all the eternabond tape with a nice layer of Dicor Lap Sealant. It has already rained 3 times since the repair and i check after each rain, and there are NO leaks.
Hey, thanks for doing the video, I've got a 1984 class C – roof project, and this shows the deal, thanks. Nice Job…
